business very casual

So I love the look of button ups but more for an everyday outfit. I decided to wear my button up unbuttoned and just throw on a tank top and minimal jewerly. It makes for a tailored look without looking to dressed up.

Fall outfit!

This was one of my favorite fall outfits! It was very cold but I didn't want to wear my parka quite yet so I needed to layer up. I wore this huge comfy brown sweater ($23 or 30 from forever 21) with a work out tank and leggings and a warm knit scarf ($10 from Marshalls). It was another dance day so I threw on leggings high socks and boots to be comfy but still cute.
Also, this headband hat is the perfect solution! It keeps my ears and head warm but doesn't totally flatten my hair and still looks adorable!

New Sweater!

This sweater was a little bit of a splurge ($30 from Marshalls) ok...its a splurge for a college girl! But I loved the color and the fit. I felt like it was made for me!

Another random warm day!

We randomly had shorts weather in November and I love the shorts and sweater look so I had to take advantage! I paired my sweater ($2 from Value Village) and a pair of light pink shorts and a matching cream and light pink scarf and a rose gold watch! Comfy and perfect for the weather :)

Comfy clothes and new boots

I had a dance class this day and didn't feel like changing so I wanted to put together some comfy clothes that still looked like a cute outfit. I paired this Gap workout tank ($3) with a navy blue cardigan and a colorful scarf. You can't even tell it's a work out tank and the scarf covers the sports bra! I wore it with leggings and warm socks and boots (see below).

I had been looking for black lace up combat boots for a while! I found these at Kohls. They were originally $80 but they are always having sales so I believe they were discounted to $50. I paired them with some high warm socks I got from Marshalls (about $6) to add a little color!

Another fall fit

I took two pieces from a previous outfit and worked them into a very different look. The scarf and watch (from my "glam" outfit) are so cute and I wanted to wear them again! This time a paired them with a deep purple/pink cardigan and a shirt with some pink/red/purple flower pattern. I wore it with brown pants and sperrys (boots would have been perfect too!)

New and best sweater! and another silly story...

THIS SWEATER is amazing. The sleeves are so long and and it is so cozy. You can throw it on over anything and it looks cute and so warm. Today I didn't pair it with a scarf because the flaps were enough but it looks cute with a scarf too! I got it for $25 from Marshalls and it was originally 70 or 80 bucks!

Now for the story...I was heading up the the outside stairs of my apt building and I tripped. There was a broken jar of pasta sauce RIGHT beneath me and so to save myself from being covered I landed on all fours (luckily my tummy never reached the sauce!) But after I got up and looked at my knee I saw red and that my jeans had a hole in them (darn it!) I assumed it was sauce and decided to deal  with it once I got to class. However, after about a block I realized that the "sauce" amount doubled and in fact it was not sauce, it was blood! Turns out my knee landed on a piece of glass! Luckily I had a pair of dance shorts in my bag and I could change into them while I cleaned off my pants and knee. So beware of broken jars and stairs guy! :)

Glam and girly

This outfit was so fun to wear, I felt girly and fashionable all day. I paired a pink button up with my cream blazer and a cream and peach scarf that had some gold thread sewn into it. I added a rose gold watch (Kohls $9) for extra bling and didn't need any other jewelry.

Halloween Costume #2 Regina George

While I would never want to be a mean girl I loved this costume! Again, it was last minute and I didn't know what to be. I thought this would be easy, funny and definitely recognizable. All I did was take an old white beater and cut two holes (you can see wear) and wore a bright bra. Because I didn't have a black mini, I took a black tank dress and rolled it into a skirt. I paired it with black heels, straightened my hair and strutted out the door. Again, this costume was totally free and people loved it!

Halloween Costume #1 I love Lucy

As I said, I like to find halloween costumes within my own closet (or my friends!). I was running late on figuring out my costume this year (and by late I mean we were leaving in an hour and I had no idea what to be) and my friend suggested Lucille Ball. She wears a lot of polka dots, navy blue and bright lips. So to complete this costume I got a red skirt, made an apron out of an old white mini skirt and tucked in this navy and white polka dot top. I threw my hair up in some curls and added a bandana. Also, I made a little heart name tag and wrote "Lucy" in the "I love Lucy" font. Fun, easy, free and got lots of compliments!

Cozy sweater

So it's getting pretty chilly up here in Wisco so I needed a warm sweater today. I loved this bright pink one I got from Gap (on sale only $10). It is probably the softest clothing item I own. I paired it with a dark purple beater and a fun scarf. I went with a lighter silk scarf because the sweater is more bulky in the front. Also, because my hair was up I paired it with simple silver earrings.

My cheapest shirt!

Not the most detailed outfit but I wanted to share that I got this gorgeous teal shirt from a thrift store for...wait for it...$1.80!! Yes, under TWO DOLLARS! Never underestimate a thrift store, I like shopping in the women's because there are some great blouses. Always remember to be open minded. You probably won't find "trendy" pieces but you can find some nice clothing from past years. I also got a comfy flannel, another beautiful blouse, and a sweater for under 10 bucks!

One Warm Day

Up here in Wisconsin we got a day in the 70s this october and i took advantage of it! I paired a hi-lo from forever 21 with a plain tank and cardigan and minimal jewelry for a casual look. I wore it with tan boots. Perfect for the warmish windy weather!

Fun and favorite outfit!

I LOVE this outfit! I got this dress from Dry Goods (under $20)! It came with a brown belt but I wanted to play up the colors so I added a teal one. Then, I thought the top needed a little something so I added a bold teal necklace. I paired it with some crazy colorful shoes (from a previous post). I actually didn't end up wearing them out because my feet were not prepared! Haha

Sundresses in the Fall?!

This was a fun and comfy outfit that I threw together in mourning of summer and sundresses! I'm wearing a flowery sundress and belt to give it shape but I also threw on a plain jean button up so it was warm enough to wear. I was able to go bare-legged but as it gets colder I'll start putting on some tights and boots.

Mix and match styles

Playing with a few different looks here. The distressed high waisted jeans are much more vintage/grunge than the blazer but with a shiny belt and casual fun top, it works. Loved this outfit!

Bright Pants (and a funny story)

I LOVED the neon pants trend! These bright green babies were from Pac Sun for $15! I paired it with a pale pink shirt and jean button up for some fun block coloring and a casual look. Also...I spilled coffee on my shirt half way through the day and I mean SPILLED (photo below) so I had to change into the only other shirt I had while my pink one dried and it was bright purple! I was rockin' the Barney look I suppose!

Belted Cardigan

I paired my favorite jeans with a tube top from H&M ($5) and a cardigan from Nordstrom Racks (a favorite of mine!). I added the skinny teal belt to give it some shape and a pop of color. I also had a teal stone bracelet that matched perfectly!

Sock Bun curls

I saw the tutorial for these and was AMAZED. Here's how it turned out for me. The top was not very curly so I had to pull it back but the bottom turned out pretty well. It didn't stay great throughout the day though. But still, pretty for a morning you know you won't be able to shower and want some messy waves and curls.

Halloween Costumes

So I figured since Halloween is coming up I would share some costume ideas! I don't like to spend a lot of money so I usually get inspiration from something I already have in my closet and then just by the extras that don't cost as much.
Witch #1
I had a black leo (shirt would work just as well) and a black skirt. I bought a hat and gloves to make sure I looked like a witch and paired it with some grey, cowboy-style, ankle boots that I already had.

Witch #2
I had a long black cardigan, black leo and tights. I added a grey belt to give the outfit some shape and paired it with the same boots, hat and gloves.

Smurf!
I had the high waisted white shorts and bought the long sleeve shirt from Goodwill for $3, the socks I got from Ragstock for just a few dollars as well. I paired it with a white had and gloves from Walgreens (just a few dollars each)

Sperrys!

My first pair of Sperrys! I got these for only $65 on endless.com. The only downsize was that they only had a 9.5 and I am a 10. I would not suggest going down a half size, personally. They are pretty tight and the blisters are no fun!

Girly girl

Very girl look here! Pink, polka dots, pears and a braided head band! The skirt was only $15 from H&M (a favorite store of mine) and the shirt (also from H&M) was only $5!

Blazers and colors

One of my favorite outfits! The pants were 14 or 15 bucks from TJ Max and are so comfy! The top has so many fun colors in it and matches perfectly with the blazer and pants!

Mixing colors

Playing with some fun colors! (purples and teals-my 2 favs) and I loved the high-waisted look, especially with a skinny belt!

Blazer Outfit

Loving blazers right now! Got this one from kohls for 40 or 50 bucks. My suggestion is to buy one that is actually soft and comfortable because then you will want to wear it all day. Blazers can make old shirts shirt (the tank under here is kind of out date) and bring it up to speed! I just paired it with jeans for a more casual look.

Quick, easy, healthy breakfast wrap

This is a breakfast everyone should know about! When I first made this I knew it would be quick, easy and healthy but was so surprised at how good it actually tasted! It takes less than 2 minutes to make and it's under 200 calories!
Ingredients:
40 calorie whole wheat fajita wrap (I use La Banderita)
1 egg
spinach
thin sliced turkey (I use honey flavored)
parmesan cheese

Preparation:
Butter or oil (Pam) a small bowl and crack the egg into it. Stir it to break the yoke and mix it up. Pop in in the microwave for 30-60 seconds until its cooked through (you may hear it pop). Pile the turkey, spinach and cheese onto the fajita. When the egg is done add that to the mix, roll up and enjoy!

New colorful wedges!

These adorable wedges were only $8.89 from Target! I could not pass them up. Because I'm taller I don't wear heels that often but I will find an occasion for these beauties!

Sock bun!

The sock bun is one of my absolute new favorite hair styles! It is so easy, quick, comfortable and comes in very handy when your hair is dirty or just not working.

Neon Yellow Polish

I got this NEON yellow/green polish from Dry Goods for just 4 or 5 dollars! I loved the neon craze and was so happy that this color turned out bright! I would suggest putting a solid coat of a light color beneath the yellow polish because it makes the yellow much more bright with less coats (you don't have to go through that weird, semi see-through stage). White or a pastel would work great as long as the yellow can cover it up.

Wet n' Wild Red Polish

I got this red Wet n' Wild nail polish for only $2! My nails are very peely (I don't get enough calcium) and my nails chip so quickly! For this reason I don't like spending a lot of money on nail polish. It may take a few more coats for the color to show up but I loved how this turned out!

My first maxi skirt!

I got this maxi skirt from TJ Max (one of my favorite stores) for $15. It took me a while to join the maxi craze because I'm a taller girl (5'8") with wide hips and I felt like I would just look like one giant piece of fabric. But I finally found one that I think works! The bold strips at the bottom help even out my wider hips and bring your attention downwards. I just happened to be wearing that yellow tank at the time but now I kind of like the colors together!
So I had a family party to go to and I wanted to try out my maxi skirt for the first time. Family parties are great for trying new trends because if they fail you're family won't judge, haha! However, the morning of the party I realized it was going to be extremely hot, so I turned my maxi into a dress! All I did was pull it up like a tube top and add a belt to give it some shape.

Pink and Gold Nails

Light pink and gold is one of my favorite color combinations! I've been loving the isolated thumb and pinky look this summer so I combined the too! :)

DIY: Old t-shirt to tank top

Before and After!

I needed a fun fourth of July outfit, so I went to Goodwill and found this old Pepsi t-shirt for about $3 and transformed it into this tank top (way too hot for sleeves)!

DIY: high-wasited jean shorts

Before and After!

I went to Goodwill and picked up a pair of old "mom" jeans for about $6 and make these adorable shorts! One of my favorite pairs all summer and SO easy!
I watched THIS VIDEO to learn how!
